This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, the reason why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights as a user of the site in relation to privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and data protection laws in Europe.
In simple words, Shoptique is a shopping research and recommendation site. We do not sell any product, process payments, or accept customer orders. The majority of visitors just check out our reviews, recommendations, buying guides, and coupon listings, but they do not provide any personal information. By using our Website, you acknowledge that we may collect limited information for our personal use to enhance the performance of our website, understand how users are utilizing our website, and help us to prevent fraud, communicate with users who choose to contact us, and subscribe to updates.

This policy applies to Shoptique.eu, its subdomains, mobile-optimised views, and any companion apps we release in the future, collectively referred to here as "the Site.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you browse Shoptique, sign up for coupon alerts or our newsletters, leave a review or comment, or otherwise interact with the Site. It does not cover the privacy practices of the Merchants we link to: once you leave Shoptique for a retailer’s checkout, that retailer’s own privacy policy takes over, and we’d encourage you to give it a quick read before you hand over your payment details.
We use the data above for a fairly narrow set of purposes: operating and improving the site, including understanding which brand reviews and coupon pages are actually useful to people, sending coupon alerts or newsletter content if you’ve signed up for them, responding to questions, complaints, or brand suggestions sent to us, detecting and preventing fraud, including fake affiliate clicks, and meeting our legal obligations, such as responding to a lawful request from a regulator.
We do not use your personal data to train third-party advertising profiles beyond what’s described in the Cookies and Affiliate Links section below, and we do not sell personal data to data brokers.

Information from third parties: where you arrive at Shoptique via a Merchant's affiliate network, or interact with the Site through a linked social media account, we may receive limited data from that source, such as referral confirmation needed to track an affiliate commission.
We do not knowingly collect payment card details, national identification numbers, or other special category data as defined under Article 9 of the GDPR.
Under the GDPR, we need a valid legal basis for each way we use your data. In practice, this usually breaks down as follows: where you've subscribed to deal alerts, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Where we're running the Site itself, keeping it secure, understanding aggregate usage, responding to your enquiries, we rely on our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. Where we're required to retain certain records by law, such as for tax or accounting purposes, we rely on legal obligation.
Where consent is the basis for processing, withdrawing it won't affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it.
As explained in our terms and conditions, many links on Shoptique are Affiliate Links. When you click one, a tracking cookie or similar identifier is typically set by the affiliate network (not by us directly) so that, if you go on to make a purchase, the Merchant can confirm the referral came from Shoptique and pay us a commission. This tracking generally doesn't identify you personally; it identifies the referral, not the person. But it is still a form of data processing, and it's covered by the cookie consent described above.
We don't receive details of what you purchased, how much you spent, or your payment information through this process. We typically only receive confirmation that a qualifying transaction occurred.
Due to some of our service providers being international, personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than where you live. If these transfers take place, we will take the necessary protections and contractual measures to ensure that personal data is adequately protected in line with the laws on privacy.
We only keep personal data for as long as is needed to provide our services, to meet our legal obligations and to defend our legitimate interests.
